Meet Double Bass Instructor Dr. Joel Schnackel

Dr. Joel Schnackel resides and teaches his bass studio in Hamilton, MT. He currently serves as adjunct instructor of double bass at the University of Central Arkansas in Conway, Ar. Joel has registered Suzuki training with Virginia Dixon with Every Child Can!, books 1 and book 2 Suzuki bass school. His teaching technique combines the influences of George Vance and the Suzuki Method. Joel has also completed at the University of Memphis level 1 Orff Schulwerk.  

Joel is the new principal bassist with the Missoula Symphony. In addition to serving as principal bass of the Conway Symphony, he performs as bassist in Jackson, North Mississippi, and Tuscaloosa Symphonies, as well as the Savannah Philharmonic.  

Joel holds a M.M. degree in double bass performance from the University of Memphis, and B.A. degree in music composition and technology from the University of Montana, and recently graduated with his PhD in historical musicology from the 
University of Memphis.
